Social golf in New Zealand

How to find people to play golf with in New Zealand

Want a round but your regular mates are busy? You are not the only one. Finding golfers with the same availability, location and kind of game can be harder than finding a course.

The quickest option: find a live game

Fairway Mates is built for exactly this: see golfers and games around New Zealand, put your hand up for a round, or create one yourself.

1. Join an existing social golf game

If you mainly care about getting out for a round, joining a game that already has a course and date is the lowest-friction option. Look for something that fits your area, availability and preferred style of golf.

2. Put your hand up and let golfers find you

You do not always need to organise the whole round. Let people know where you are, when you are keen to play and the kind of golfers you are comfortable joining.

3. Create the round you actually want

If you already know the course or day, create the game and let other golfers fill the open spots. This works especially well when one or two regular mates are playing but you need another golfer to make up the group.

4. Use golf clubs and local communities

Golf clubs, local Facebook communities and casual golf programmes can all be useful ways to meet players. They are particularly handy when you are new to an area or want to become part of a regular local group.

5. Discover a course first, then find people to play it with

Sometimes the course is the reason for the round. Fairway Mates has course guides across New Zealand, so you can discover somewhere new and then organise a game around it.
